School 'responding positively' following poor Ofsted

AN ORFORD primary school has been inspected for the first time since it was told to improve by Ofsted.

It said that senior leaders at St Andrew’s Primary School on Mardale Avenue have made an action plan to address problems highlighted during the critical inspection in September last year.

“The headteacher and deputy headteacher responded positively to the judgement of the last inspection and are keen to make the improvements required, “ said Ofsted.

Leaders are also aware that ‘too much’ teaching still requires improvement, with teacher’s performance targets now ‘more sharply focused’.

Although change is beginning to take place and some positive action has been taken, the pace of this change is not rapid enough, said the report.

Ofsted says it will continue to monitor the school.
