A CONSULTATION is under way for residents to comment on parking plans for the town.

Comment on current parking arrangments and schemes going forward.

To view the plans go to warrington.gov.uk, where a questionnaire can also be filled in to give your views.

Clr Linda Dirir, executive board member for highways, transportation and climate change, said: "The parking questionnaire will identify what residents find important about parking in the town and will help put together the final strategy going forward.

“If you have a view, make sure you share it with us."

Drop-in sessions will also take place:

  • Tuesday, January 22 at Orford Library, 3-7pm.
  • Friday, January 25 at Birchwood Library, 3-7pm.
  • Monday, January 28 at Penketh Library, 3-7pm.
  • Tuesday, January 29 at Culcheth Library, 3-7pm.
  • Tuesday, February 5 at Stockton Heath Library, 3-7pm
  • Thursday, February 7 at Lymm Library, 3-7pm.

The closing date for responses is Friday, February 22.

Can't say parking is a major problem count yourselfs lucky its not London or Liverpool.I dare say a lot of money will be wasted judging by the long list of drop in sessions.

Take a good look at this picture,
Its against the law to park within 15 feet of the corner,
Its the same for parking on a bend obstructing the view of oncoming traffic,

Yes we do have parking problems in Warrington, Some people are just ignorant to parking regulations causing problems for other road users.

The design of this site was not meant to have room for parking cars outside the houses that is why garage areas were provided. I'v no doubt that if the police, the community support officers and the parking wardens did their job, then these chaotic parkers would complain bitterly!

Come on SAC, You dont expect these people to do what they are paid for,
Orford road is in chaos at rush hour because of people parked on double yellow lines and half on/ half off the pavement, Police cars just drive past and do nothng, Anyone with a pram has to walk onto the road to get past.

Yes I do expect them to do their job but I also expect responsible car users to behave themselves as well. Obviously we don't have enough reasonable and responsible car users, additionally they seem to complain at the damage caused to their cars from any close passing pedestrians on the pavement and close passing cars and emergency vehicles on the road, amazing really. However they sometimes can be heard stating that they pay road tax and therefor stake their claim for "owning the road".
