Kerry Katona criticised over payday loans ad
1:00pm Thursday 10th January 2013 in News
Kerry Katona
KERRY Katona is back on the nation’s TV advertising for a payday loans company.
The Padgate born reality TV star, who was declared bankrupt back in 2008 before getting the measure lifted in 2011, is the new face of payday loan company cashlady.co.uk.
In the TV adverts, which started airing on Tuesday, Kerry is seen talking about money problems including her own.
But she has faced criticism for fronting the campaign for the company which on its own website says the representative APR is 2,670 per cent.
The company offers loans of up to £300 for short term help to employed people over 18-years-old.
On the website the company also says users can expect to pay on average £29 interest on every £100 borrowed and urges people taking out loans to make sure the money can be paid back the next month or face extra charges with more interest building.
But Kerry said she was happy to be the face of cashlady.co.uk as they were more responsible with links to independent money advice and kept users informed.

Surely its morally wrong of the WG to even name the company this tart is fronting.. let alone the products it is offering.

'Cashlady' reminds me of the other company she fronted years ago though 'Pink Ladies'..... maybe she is just drawn to anything with the word 'lady' in it :)

The council and others have been warning people against using all these payday loan companies recently. I think I read it on here somewhere or it might have been the other local news site.

She is not very well liked and everytime she advertises herself like this she leaves herself open to much well deserved crtisism,
Anyone who doesnt like to see her criticised should not read other peoples opinions of her its as simple as that,

Is this advert really any worse than Michael Parkinson "selling" life insurance for old fogies.....(oh come, the insurance companies are always going to win that one!) and in 2009 Carol Vorderman did adverts for a debt consolidation company (where some said the numbers just didnt stack up).

Why can't people just leave her alone. She's had her problems in life as most of us do the only difference is ours are not sprawled across every newspaper in the land and scrutinised. She's turned her life around picked her self up cant put her down for that she's got a family to support as we all do.

If things don't work out she can always fall back on "Bipolar" for sympathy.
A few years ago she was voted "mother of the year"what mother go to the hairdressers and leave her children in the car whilst she went inside.

She seems as though she will do anything for money, perhaps a proper job would be better.

Kerry is a working mum and a credit to Warrington. So what if she will do anything for money. You people are the same ones who say scrounges should clean toilets instead of claiming benefits. Inconsistent arnt we. If some idiot wants to take out a 1700% apr loan then it's up to them or the government to or our MPs such as those criticising to regulate the industry not to criticise employees or thier contractors. Stupid MPs including local ones who also jumped on the bandwagon. She's not the loansharking anymore than the guy who cleans the office toilet. Get your head off the sensational. Stop talking headlines and do something with the brass tacks.
You sicken me with the way your "get my name in the paper by criticising katona" instead of going up against the industry that is actually the root of this scourge.
