Man in court for animal cruelty after dogs attack family cat

A DOG owner has been summoned to court for animal cruelty in connection to an attack that left a family pet badly wounded.

The 30-year-old man handed himself into police on Saturday.

He was interviewed under caution and is now due to appear at Halton Magistrates Court although a date has yet to be confirmed.

The summons relate to an incident on Saturday, December 15, when police received reports a cat had been attacked by two dogs on Whitchurch Close in Padgate.

Four-year-old Fluff was taken to Beech House Veterinary Centre on Wilderspool Causeway where he was treated for a broken jaw, dislocated leg and bite wounds.

A man with two dogs was seen in the area at the time.

Officers from Warrington East Neighbourhood Unit searched the area but he could not be traced.

Maybe there are more serious things happening in the world however if you let this kind of thing just go, it ends up on a slippery slope of other offences being let go by, im sure the owners of the cat feel they deserve to get some sort of justice for what happened and to be honest i dont blame them and I know i would be exactly the same if it happened to me and i am sure you would feel that way too.

On the contrary they are intentionally trained by unthinking owners to hate cats. Several families i know have both a cat and a dog both living in perfect harmony together in the same household. The dog owners dogs were blatantly out of his control or were they trained to hate cats. Cat bating seems to be a "Sport" that is common in Warrington, judging by the number of cats, (and indeed small dogs), that go missing each month.

no no no you don't get the point this man has trained his dogs to attack other animals not just cats. the point is that it might had been another dog or a child ect ect. there was a story about it a few weeks ago this guys seems to get his kicks by letting his dogs onto other animals and has done it before. its not dogs hate cats who cares its the way it was done.

listen matey its a crime and punishable up to 6 months in prison and there was a case recently of a man who stabbed a dog to death and i would expect the idiot (friend of yours ??) to get at least 4 months.

Really pleased he is in custody and hopefully the guardian and the local community have driven him to the state when he gave himself up. hopefully the next monster who wants to torture animals will think twice now.

sorry the guy who stabbed the dog got 5 months i see this case as similar it was deliberate. the guy who stabbed the dog would not pay the vets fees so n terms of premeditation not disimilar i would say the fact he handed himself in will help his case a bit but in would expect a custodial because of the danger to the public aspect e.g wandering around at night with attack dogs the courts cannot let that go with a slap on the wrist.

dogs dont like cats and have to be trained to get on or live with them form a young age and sum dogs will live with a cat but try chace any other cat thay see and sum carn't be trained and will never live with or get on with cats most dogs will chace a cat if thay saw one and no matter how well the dogs bin trained to to **** back when called i carnt see alot of dogs paying any atencion to the owner what so ever iv got a grayhouned and it hates cats tryed traine it to not to bother with them but it still jumps at the lead when/if it spots 1 most people that hav commented obviously no **** all about sighthounds

Glad this thug is going to be punished. Poor little cat, didn't deserve that. NOT TRUE that all dogs hate cats, my present dog totally ignores them, but if a neighbour's cat comes up to him, he will wag his tail as it bumps itself against him, and my last dog absolutely loved them.

Hope we get some sort of justice for little Fluff.

Individual dogs generally don't bother with cats they may growl but rarely attack they are pack animals and the danger is two or more. Which is the trained set up this thug had.

I don't particularly like cats but this guy needs to be banned from owning pets and serve 6 months in prison to deter others from doing the same. What next? A child, an adult, another dog? Deliberately setting your dog(s) on anything or anybody is a despicable act of cruelty that needs to be acted upon by the courts regardless of cost!
