COUNCIL bosses have finally set a date to decide whether rubbish can continue to be dumped at Arpley tip until 2025.
Plans for the Sankey Bridges landfill site were submitted by Waste Recycling Group (WRG) in January last year leaving many residents concerned why it was taking so long for the application to be heard.
But the council has now confirmed an extraordinary development control meeting will be held on January 30 at the Parr Hall.
Campaigners against the plans highlighted nuisance lorries, dirt, dust, litter and flies as reasons to turn down the application.
WRG has argued there is a need for the tip as others in the area will begin to close by 2013.
