Prop Wood off Twitter following private life revelations
9:10am Thursday 10th January 2013 in News
WOLVES star Paul Wood is currently boycotting Twitter after receiving abusive messages following tabloid reports about his private life.
The prop told the Warrington Guardian he has not used his account on the social networking site for two weeks.
But he says the unwanted attention will be no distraction ahead of the start of Super League in less than one months time.
He said: “I have already had some stick over the internet so I’ve not been on for a couple of weeks.
“And people were saying things at the Widnes game (on Boxing Day).
“Everyone gets it and it’s just something you’re going from spectators.
“I have always been fortunate in my career and have never taken stick from opposition fans or my own fans.
“It’s not really bothered me that much.
“If you are looking for insults you can find them quite easily but if you don’t want to look at them you don’t.
“I only look at the good stuff.”
Paul, who is closing in on 300 games for the club on a current total of 298, says that both coach Tony Smith and teammates have given him support.
“I just need the season to kick off,” he said.
“It should be a good year for us.
“It’s going to give me something to focus on and it’s my job.
“I think about nothing else.
“These staff and teamates are backing me and Tony Smith has been very good with me.
“He just said make sure you perform on the field.”
Paul says he does not regret the world famous injury, when he lost a testicle, he suffered to Kallum Watkins’ knee during last season’s Grand Final, that propelled him to stardom.
“What’s happened has happened,” he said.
“My personal life probably wouldn’t be in the papers otherwise but it has and there’s nothing I can do.
“We can’t do much about it now so what’s done is done.”

'A bit of an oddball' is a personal insult in anyone's terms, whether YOU believe it is fitting or not.
