Dancing feet to wow Sky One judges

CHANNELLING the spirit of Mumble from Happy Feet is Sunday night dancing star Andy Watt.

The Penketh father takes to the stage this weekend on Sky One programme Got to Dance and it is clear on Youtube previews he manages to wow the panel of celebrity judges.

The 39-year-old applied to be on the show after being made redundant from his job as a franchise manager in October last year.

After telling producers his inspiration came from the dancing penguins in the film Happy Feet, a film crew followed him at home and down to the audition in London where he tells the cameras he is following in the footsteps of Warrington stars Chris Evans, Kerry Katona and Spike from 911.

Andy, who also works as a DJ and in a sandwich shop on the market, said: “I wanted to see if I could get on TV and told the producers about an off the cuff remark I had made to my son about me making a million pounds in three years.

“The winning prize is £250,000 so I could have been a quarter of the way!

“I can dance a bit but it’s not your normal audition piece.”

The father to Penketh High School pupil Callum, aged 13, performs to Labrinth’s track Earthquake on the programme and is eventually joined on stage by judges Ashley Banjo and Aston Merrygold.

He added: “Callum might be a bit embarrassed when it’s on the TV but I was just having a laugh.

“He’s my best mate and enjoyed coming down to London with me.

“I’m not afraid of standing in front of a crowd and acting the fool and the show obviously liked that.”

See Andy on Got to Dance on Sky1 HD on Sunday at 6pm.

Great to see them having a laugh but comedy acts get through instead of the real talent such as Latchfords Romario, who is brilliant at what he does and is also on the same show but sometimes the good acts get overlooked for TV laughs
GOOD LUCK TO BOTH
