A FAMILY hopes their running efforts will raise £5,000 for Phab Kids, a charity which integrates children with disabilities with able bodied youngsters.

It will be the third time 49-year-old Bryan Magan, a Warrington Borough Council boss, has tackled the London Marathon.

After struggling on his own, he has teamed up with his 20-year-old son, Lewis, and 50-year-old brother, Glenn, for this year’s challenge on April 21.

Bryan, from Widnes, said: “All my life I’ve been a sportsman, but I am not naturally a runner. Beyond six miles it becomes a marathon.”

Bryan, head of democratic and member services at Warrington Council, said: “My son and brother are running for the first time.

“Training has begun. When I last did it, 10 years ago, a man in a canoe ran past me.

“It will be a long hard slog but we’re doing it for a great organisation.”
