Dogs home staff care for dumped pups
STAFF at a dogs’ home have been working around the clock to care for a litter of seven puppies found dumped aged two days old outside a pet shop days before Christmas.
Three pups were taken to Manchester Dogs Home while the other four dogs were in a more critical condition and were transferred to Chesire Dogs Home in Grappenhall which has a specialist maternity care unit.
Two of the puppies, thought to be cross breeds, have since died, while the surviving five, which are yet to be named, are in a stable condition after being discovered by a shop owner in Manchester.
Home manager Anna Stansfield said: “These puppies were freezing cold and starving when they came in and the two tragic deaths might have been avoided if they had been brought to us directly.
“Thankfully the survivors are getting stronger each day after our wonderful staff have been hand-feeding the puppies every three hours.”
