Dog choker appeals prison sentence

A MAN jailed for choking his own dog to death with its lead has appealed his jail sentence.

Leslie Bassnett, aged 21, of Arpley Street, will attempt to overturn the 20 week prison sentence imposed for killing dog Tyson.

The defendant was convicted of causing unnecessary suffering to his dog at Warrington Magistrates Court last month.

He tortured the Staffordshire bull terrier by tying its lead around its legs and then strangling it with the choke chain.

The appeal will be heard on Monday, January 28 at Warrington Crown Court.

20 weeks is nothing for the evil suffering this piece of filth caused to a helpless pet so to appeal it just shows a complete lack of any humanity or acknowledgement of the severity of this crime from this scum whatsoever.

Suck it up and serve your time you degenerate piece of filth and may karma pay you back forever more for the life you took.

This bit of filth would get an alot more that 20 weeks if i was in charge but no we have to make do with the sentence set. to appeal just costs us more money and his sentance cannot be increased. ah well let him out and see what he does next (a little bit unemployable after this me thinks) maybe he will strangle a small child next as he has no respect for life of others or anything. good luck fella we will support you with our hard earned until your back inside (we pay for that also). hope i never meet you as i dont think you can be educated!

His sentence can most certainly be increased,by the appeal judge, A magistrate issued sentence can be extended by a crown court judge or recorder..

I hope the lowlife scumbag gets twenty months.. He quite clearly doesnt like porridge.

Never mind 20 week thats absolutely nothing compared to what this animal has suffered. Choke this joker with a chain until he is within an inch of his life and let him experience what his dog did maybe then he will think twice staring death in the face.

He should be stoned to death for this crime. The sentence he has been given is a joke....shame on the judge that passed that sentence. If he gets his sentence reduced it will be a kick in the teeth for the poor dead dog. Give him a longer sentence and put him in a cell with sone of the most notorious inmates in there and lock the door for a hour and let them torture abd beat the sadistic little ****. I wonder what his parents think? Id be interested to know.
