POLICE have issued an appeal after a teenager was sexually assaulted in Old Hall.

Officers say the incident took place around 9.30pm yesterday, Thursday, in Sankey Valley Park, close to the maze.

The main offender is described as being in his mid 30s, around 5ft 9in, of stocky build with short dark hair. He spoke with an Eastern European accent, was wearing a black leather jacket and had a distinctive gold hoop in his ear.

He was with another man who is described as Eastern European, aged in his late 20s, around 5ft 9in tall and of slim build. He had a prominent nose and was wearing a black hooded coat with the hood up.

Both men have left the scene in the direction of the Maltings Pub.

DS Mike Evans, of Cheshire Police's Dedicated Rape Unit, said: “I would urge people to follow basic safety advice.

“Remain vigilant when walking alone at night, maintain an awareness of your surroundings and personal safety and always make sure that someone knows where you are going and when you are due back.”

Police patrols have been increased in the area and anyone with any information should call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 87 of January 4.
