Can you help return stolen bike?

The stolen bike The stolen bike

A DAUGHTER says her pensioner dad has been left 'devastated' after his bike was stolen.

Peter Burns, aged 72, of Falmouth Drive, Penketh, had his ‘pride and joy’ stolen from his garden shed.

The incident took place between 8.30pm and 10.30pm yesterday, Thursday.

Mr Burns is a full time carer for wife Edna, aged 69, who is recovering from a stroke.

Daughter Joanne, aged 42, says it gives him a way to relax in between looking after Edna, and that the keen cyclist is at a loss without it.

She is appealing for help in returning the bike and said: “It is irreplaceable to him and we are all devastated.

“It just feels like a kick in the teeth and has upset all of us.”

The bike is a Benetto road bike, 1980s Tour de France, champagne gold in colour with blue wheels.

Anyone with information can call police on 101.

come on it goes on almost every day. you wont see it again, what's the point of asking the WG for publicity.

its gone buy him a new one and move one, its a pain and no one deserves scrotes stealing from them but that's life.

I agree with you're timely comment absolutely.

You might need to contact the Warrington Guardian direct as I don't expect that either Joanne or Peter will see your kind and most generous offer at this comments page. The Burnes' are a very charitable and caring couple and have very often helped others out in the past.

My daughters bike was stolen from her back garden. She needed a bike to get to work so she looked at bikes for sale at Long Lane Garden Centre. She was amazed to see her bike for sale, but was told it had already been sold. Reporting it to the police got her nowhere at all.

She should have just taken her bike back, They must know who they bought it from.

register your bikes serial number with the manufacturer in your name.
get your bike security tagged (or do it yourself)
and ALWAYS keep it securely locked with a decent lock (none of these bad cable jobs) when you're not riding it.

I'm afraid I had 3 bikes stolen whilst living there, each time locked up. The Police didn't want to know.

Maybe we should nick a few polce bikes to show them how it feels, They are just not interested in stolen bikes at all.

Sorry. My daughters reporting her bike theft wasn't a waste of time. A policeman turned up at her house yesterday and said she could pick up her bike from Long Lane Garden Centre. It had been held there since November whilst the police completed their enquiries.

Obviously it was traceable, well done to all concerned with the bikes repatriation.
