Top 10 performance for author

A WARRINGTON-BORN writer has seen his debut novel hit a top 10 for first releases on international website Amazon.

Mark Gartside, who now lives in America, saw his Warrington-based novel What Will Survive reach 10 in Amazon’s best debut novels of 2012.

He said: “When the book was released just seeing it in the shops was quite a thrill - that alone would have made 2012 a memorable year.

“One of the other highlights was getting the chance to do a reading at Waterstones in Warrington, which was great fun - the staff there did a wonderful job setting it up. To feature in the Amazon year end list of best debuts was really an unexpected and very pleasant surprise to finish the year with!

“As for next year, there will be a mass market paperback of What Will Survive published in January and a new novel, The Last to Know, which is due out in May.”
