ROYAL Mail workers have called off a strike planned for tomorrow, Friday, following an improved pay offer.

Engineers and cleaners employed by Romec had voted 91 per cent in favour of action in a ballot of 1,900 workers which would have hit Warrington Mail Centre in Lingley Green.

The strike action was called in protest at a 1.5 per cent pay offer.

But at the eleventh hour bosses offered a revised level of 3.1 per cent over 15 months.
