Warrington Guardian: Royal Mail staff in Warrington set for strike tomorrow Royal Mail staff in Warrington set for strike tomorrow

ROYAL Mail workers have called off a strike planned for tomorrow, Friday, following an improved pay offer.

Engineers and cleaners employed by Romec had voted 91 per cent in favour of action in a ballot of 1,900 workers which would have hit Warrington Mail Centre in Lingley Green.

The strike action was called in protest at a 1.5 per cent pay offer.

But at the eleventh hour bosses offered a revised level of 3.1 per cent over 15 months.

Royal waste of time and money, what is it this time, got to be better than striking because you were made to work the hours you got paid for.

Its called 'shooting yourself in the foot'. I just feel sorry for the good people who work there who just have to do what the Union bullies tell them to do. When Royal Mail fold and they end up working for other copmpanies on far less favourable terms and conditions they'll end up feelig sorry for themselves and lokking for sympathy.

ome people like myself have had a 1% payrise, the first for 3 years!!! and it was wiped out by an increase to my pension of 1.5%!!!!! and to compound this, they take 10 days to deliver a simple item...........which with postage costs is an utter joke!!! i'm very supportive of public sector workers but they are extracting the urine!!!!

Your story is totally wrong. There was no strike planned by Royal Mail staff. The strike would have been by our cleaners, who are employed by an independant company. They had been offered 1.5% while their managers had received a 15% bonus. Needless to say, they were not happy.
