DECEPTIVELY spacious with an open plan layout, plenty of light from the large stained glass windows and with many original features...all this could be yours for £150,000.

The for sale sign has gone up outside Our Lady’s RC Church, on St Mary’s Street, Latchford.

The former Catholic church is being marketed by specialist property agents Fisher German with a guide price of £150,000.

A Grade II listed building, Our Lady’s has been left empty following the opening of the John Henry Newman Catholic Church, on Knutsford Road, in June 2010.

That church has the combined congregations of both Our Lady’s and St Augustine’s Church, which closed in Latchford in 2005.

When St Augustine’s closed its parishioners moved to Our Lady’s before the new purpose built church opened.

In that year the building was at the centre of concerns it would be lost for good as plans for the new church were first mooted.

But that never came to fruition as English Heritage gave the late Victorian/early Edwardian gothic revival church its listed status.

but the Diocese of Shrewsbury decided to continue with the plans for a new purpose built church and at the time Father Peter Montgomery, priest at the church said the building required a number of repairs.

Our Lady’s was opening in 1902 and continued to serve the community until 2010.

In the buyers guide it says the property is still listed a place of worship.

It adds: “Prospective purchasers should make their own enquiries into possible change of use, bearing in mind the Grade II listing. The surrounding area is residential and any change of use would need to be suitable. Any proposals for change of use should be discussed with the local planning authority.”
