SWAPPING the pitch for the pantomime stage this weekend is fans’ favourite Ben Westwood.

The testimonial Warrington Wolves star will be treading the boards of the Parr Hall as Prince Charming during two performances of Cinderella and says he is looking forward to supporters seeing him in a different light.

The dad-of-two said: “Learning lines is something we have never done before so we were all a bit out of our comfort zone.

“I have barely read a book never mind a script so I think it’s been a lot harder than we thought it was going to be.

“But hopefully it will all pay off and I think it’s going to be a good show.”

The England international will be joined on stage by Paul Wood and Mickey Higham as the henchmen, Garreth Carvell as the baron and former Warrington player Jon Clarke playing the villain.

The group have been rehearsing for three or four hours a night at Warrington Collegiate over the past two months with performing arts students who are ‘ready to jump in if anything goes wrong’.

The Man of Steel finalist added: “It’s nerve-wracking but we’re looking forward to it.

“We’re hoping for a good turn out as that would be the best ending to the last couple of months and I’m sure we’re all going to be buzzing afterwards.

“I don’t think people are expecting us to be any good but it will give them a chance to see us in a different light rather than bashing each other about on a rugby field.”

Tickets for the shows on Sunday at 2.30 and 6pm are £12 for adults, £8 for concessions and £32 for a family ticket of four and are available at all Warrington Asda stores and the Warrington Wolves Wolfware club shop.
