Villagers enjoy Victorian Day

VILLAGERS in Culcheth took a step back in time on Saturday for the annual Victorian Day.

Culcheth Methodist Church was among the venues to take part, hosting a variety of stalls as well as cooking up tasty food.

Thie year, the church has support from the Lions, Co-op, Waterfields, Sainsbury’s and Barclays Bank.

i was very disappointed in this years victorian day. i had such high hopes and even asked friends who havent attended before to come along as it is always so magical, but there were hardly any stalls on lodge drive and the tacky fair is taking away the festive spirit of the day. there was no live music box and i felt that the compare tried to vamp up the arrival of santa to no avail as we were stood in the rain waiting for the light switch on and fireworks display, which was the best part of the entire event.

To get that true victorian effect you really need to have kids with rickets and missing limbs from working in factories.
