SOME of Warrington Wolves most famous faces will be trying out a different shape of ball in a charity match.

A number of the Wolves first team, including Stefan Ratchford, Paul Wood and Micky Higham, are set to take on an After Adoption all star team next weekend at Birchwood Leisure Centre.

Run by former England international Delme Herriman, he will be joined by John Amaechi - the first Engligh player to enjoy a successful career in the NBA.

The event is raising money for After Adoption.

Karl Fitzpatrick, player welfare manager for Warrington Wolves, said: "All the players and coaches who played in the last basketball event really enjoyed themselves while supporting such a fantastic cause.

“We hope that the local community will join us this year to watch the players put through their paces in a totally different ball game."

Delme, who was adopted himself, organised the original event last year and decided to carry it on in 2012, because it was so successful.

Tickets, priced £7 for adults, £4 for OAPs and children and £20 for family tickets (two adults and two children) are available from afteradoption.org.uk/basketball or Delme on 07729 497402. The game takes place on Saturday, December 8.
