CHILDREN at Stockton Heath Primary School have been getting creative for Christmas in the hopes of winning a prize.

They along with Cinnamon Brow and Appleton Thorn primary schools have been making festive decorations for their own Christmas tree at Arley Hall and Gardens.

Competing against five other schools from the region they will be hoping to clinch the top prize - a class trip to Gulliver’s Theme Park.

“The children are using a lot of glitter,” said Viv Johnson, from Stockton Heath Primary School.

“We’re using ‘what Christmas means to us’ as our inspiration and are creating cards, crackers and stockings.”

The pupils’ decorations need to cover eight 6ft trees which will stand as a major centrepiece for the celebrations in Arley Hall’s historic Cruck Barn.

The schools’ Christmas trees will stand proud throughout the Arley Christmas floral extravaganza which will see the hall decked out with thousands of flowers from Saturday to December 7.
