THE voting turnout percentage in the borough for the first police and crime commissioner vote barely reached double figures.

Just 13.33 per cent called into polling stations yesterday to cast their vote in the election to find a new commissioner responsible for police budgets and crime prevention.

The figure was only marginally better across the Cheshire region with an overall total of 14.08 per cent.

Voters had reported some polling stations had not reached 100 voters by 9pm last night. The count to find out who will pick up the role is set to take place in Chester at 2pm today.
