Police stranger danger warning after suspicious report

POLICE are urging parents to remind youngsters of 'stranger danger' after a report of a man behaving suspiciously on Sycamore Lane, Great Sankey.

Texts were sent to parents of pupils in schools in the area after the man was spotted walking behind a boy and girl yesterday, Wednesday, near to the library at 8.30am.

Sergeant Gordon Jack said no attempt was made to ‘talk to or touch either child or coerce them in any way’ but added police presence in the area has been increased.

A spokesman added: “Police take all reports of this nature seriously and are keen to reiterate to parents and children the issues around 'stranger danger'.”

Call Cheshire Police on 101.

People in danger of becoming neurotic?
A man was walking behind a boy and a girl and it was considered suspicious even though he didn't make any effort to touch or talk to them. Didn't you even consider he may have just been going in the same direction as them? What was he supposed to do? Run away in the opposite direction so people wouldn't think he was going to molest them.
You better start thinking before suggesting perfectly innocent people are acting suspiciously.

The Warrington Guardian trying to criminalise people that are walking down the street now, seriously what the hell is going on with all these "stories" across the past few weeks? Do we really live in such a boring town that reporters feel the need to write what it stories? What if the Guardian employs rogue reporters that have been hacking emails? Everyone should change their password's to be vigilant lol

I am conscious of speaking to little children even though I know I would never hurt one. I agree people need to be vigilant for the bad ones out there (which unfortunately there are a lot) but everyone still needs to be able to go about their daily things without worrying whether they are going to be accused of things they haven't done.
