A 60-YEAR-OLD lorry, immaculately restored by a Dallam company after it was rescued from a scrap yard, is now set to fetch between £10,000 and £15,000 at an auction.
The Guy Otter Pantechnicon was built by Guy Motors at their Fallings Park factory, in Wolverhampton in 1951, but rusted in a scrap yard until it was rescued by Lancashire bed company Silentnight.
They sent the lorry to be restored at Marsden Vanplan in Longshaw Street, and now the vintage wagon is up for sale.
The lorry is scheduled for auction at Bonhams in Harrogate today and is expected to make a high return as it has won a string of awards since its restoration.
A representative from Bonhams said: ‘Since completion in 1999 the vehicle has won its class in almost every event entered, including the prestigious Trans-Pennine Rally.”
