THE League of Friends has given Warrington Hospital another cash boost after donating £25,000 towards new high definition theatre equipment for key-hole surgery.

The high definition laparoscopic video stacker system and a laproflator will be used in emergency theatre in treatment and surgery for procedures including acute cholecystitus and appendicitis and can help reduce patient’s hospital stay after surgery.

Phil Winstanley, theatre coordinator, thanked voluntary organisation the League of Friends, which raises cash from weekly lottery sales and tickets, for their generous donation.

A spokesman for the League of Friends said: “We choose to donate the monies to the new theatre equipment because our main priority is patient care and if this equipment can help reduce a patient’s length of stay in hospital then we have achieved our aim of the charity.”
