POLICE are still searching for a Polish man reported missing in Warrington.

It has now been a week since Michal Chwesiuk, aged 25, was last seen in the town. He left work at Spirit restaurant in Victoria Park at 2.30pm last Friday and was reported missing by friends the following day.

A police spokesman said it was completely out of character for Michal, who lives in Elliott Avenue, and they are becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare.

Police search teams and specialist units including air support and dog patrols have spent the past week searching key areas in the town in the hope of finding clues that may lead to establishing Michal’s whereabouts.

Supt Martin Cleworth said: "We are extremely concerned for Michal’s welfare as this is completely out of character for him to not be in touch with any friends or family.

"We have numerous resources committed with the search and we are urging anyone who has seen Michal or anyone matching his description to contact us immediately.

"We are also urging anyone who has any information regarding his current whereabouts to get in touch.

Officers have spent the day out and about on the route that Michal normally takes home from work. They have been carrying out roadside checks and talking to members of the public.

Michal's route to and from work includes Elliott Avenue, Manchester Road, Church Street and Farrell Street crossing over a bridge and into Victoria Park.

Michal is described as 5ft 8in to 5ft 9in, with black short/shaved hair, of slim build and clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a silver/grey hooded sweatshirt.

It is believed Michal is on foot or possibly using his bicycle, which is a Silver Claude Butler bicycle. Police are also appealing to anyone who may have seen a bicycle matching this description to come forward.

Anyone with any information is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 544 of 3 November or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
