Fourth man arrested over munitions theft

A FOURTH man has now been arrested after munitions were stolen from a freight train.

The 26-year-old man handed himself in at a police station in Birkenhead today and was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.

He remains in police custody for questioning.

Phillip Yates, aged 29, of Church Street, Birkenhead, is charged with theft and was due before Birkenhead Magistrates' Court today.

Two other men, arrested on suspicion of theft and handling stolen goods respectively, have been bailed until 3 December 2012, pending further police enquiries.

All of the outstanding munitions have been found.
