Welly shop to open on Saturday

THERE is no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing.
The team behind Warrington’s first ‘welly boot-ique’ could not agree more with Wainwright.
And now no one will have that excuse as Welly Envy opens to the public this Saturday just months after the readers of the Warrington Guardian voted for the idea to win a stall on Warrington Market.
Dave Hughes, from Stockton Heath, who came up with the idea, said: “After the wettest Summer for 100 years, we decided Warrington needed more choice when it came to wellington boots … wellies for puddle jumping, wellies for muddy festivals or just wellies for walking the dog!
“People thought we we’re wallies at first, but we genuinely felt there was a gap in the market for a big, brilliant, funky, wonderful welly range. So we put our ideas on paper and the people of Warrington voted for it in the Guardian to help us bring it to life.”
Over the past few months they have been busy sourcing products for the store and working ideas such as funk up your feet sessions for youngsters to get creative with their wellies.
The 33-year-old added: “We’ve spent the last few months really thinking through how we will launch our start-up business. We want to make the most of the opportunity to drive our exciting new venture for 12 months – that means bringing Welly ENVY to life at Warrington’s brilliant Indoor Market but also online at wellyenvy.co.uk.
“We’re really keen to create a buzz about wellies in Warrington. Having the ideas is great fun but we recognise it’s all about hard work now and the execution of our business idea. We’re serious about creating a strong brand in Welly Envy and delivering a brilliant retail experience for our shoppers.”
“Paul Blaney & the team at the market have been brilliant. They’ve made us feel really welcome whilst we learn the ropes. It’s a lovely, lively community and we’re looking forward to more of Hazel’s cups of tea in the market cafe.”
And if you quote ‘puddle-proof my feet’ you can pick up discounts on your welly boots.
