TWO burglars stole jewellery from a house in Glazebury after tricking their way into the pensioner’s home.

The raid took place on Queen’s Avenye around 11am on Thursday when they asked the 70-year-old resident of the house if he had any jewellery for sale.

They started talking to him before asking if they could use the toilet.

Police say one of the men went inside and searched the bedroom before stealing a quantity of jewellery − the other man remained outside.

DC Stephen Page said: "We are urging anyone who witnessed what happened or was in the area at the time and has seen anyone acting suspiciously to contact us.

"We are also urging residents − particularly the elderly and vulnerable - to be extra vigilant when answering the door to any unexpected callers.

"If you are unsure regarding the identity of the caller then keep them out - particularly if you are on your own. Ask them to make an appointment or come back later when someone else can be present in the house.

"If you′re suspicious then report the incident to the police immediately."

The first man was white, aged between 35 and 40, around 5ft 10ins tall, of stocky build, with short fair hair and was dressed casually.

The second man is aged around 30, with dark hair and around 5ft 9ins tall.

Anyone with any information should call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 436 of October 25.
