Police appealing for witnesses

A 29-YEAR-OLD man has been assaulted and had his wallet stolen when cycling along Woolston Grange.

The incident took place at around 5.30am yesterday.

The victim was on his bike when two men next to the children’s play area began talking to him.

One then punched him in the head, knocking him to the floor.

His phone, keys and wallet were taken.

He was taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

The first mugger is described as white, aged 18 and 21-years-old with short hair. He wore a black tracksuit.

The second man is described as white, of a similar age with longer hair.

Anyone with information can call police on 101.

What horrible people! It may be worth while for the Police to set up a voluntary sweep of asking workers from the area that were working on a 6am-2pm shift cause there's lots of warehouse's running on shift pattern. May be worth while and wouldn't be costly cause they're either workers sat down having a chat to work or scruff's who've been up all night doing whatever that i'm 100% sure will be known by Cheshire Police who the detective's who're in charge of the case should be showing mug shots to the victim of who the Police think could be possible suspects which would also be very cheap in both time taken to do and cost of any materials. If the Guardian printed more details then maybe a reader would be 80% sure and report it rather than 30% sure and disregard it

For all you who read the report it was "5:30am" well before the 6:00am shift came on and well before any normal person would be awake. In such a remote place (that is not near night clubs etc at "home time") it is uncommon unless someone was lying in wait for a victim.

the travellers in question are now on woolston grange next to my work. they were trying the locks on a car in the carpark and when the owner moved his car to a safer place in front of the factory, the man got one of the younger travellers to take a sh*t on the doorstep of our workplace. this was at 3pm today. is this normal human behaviour??

They are disgusting. If anyone else did that they would probably hiked off to the cop shop. And they wonder why people dont want them camping out near them.Dirty.

Quite right annie1275, They are full of sh*t and dont care who knows it, They get away with it but if you drop a sweet paper you get a fine.
Having said that they moved from Risly to Woolston but its no use pointing the finger until evidence is obtained otherwise you get accused of racism, But why did the man stop and talk to them at that time of day if he didnt know them, I dont even talk to myself before lunchtime...

Travellers are not a race of people so there for the comment can not be classed as racist.

Bigoted it maybe however the neagtive press they get is due to the way that they behave so the points raised by the above posters are valid.
