Gun club bid to be discussed by councillors

CONTROVERSIAL plans for a clay pigeon shooting club are set to be discussed today, Thursday.

As previously reported in the Warrington Guardian, more than 350 people have objected to the application at Prospect Farm on Prospect Lane, close to Risley Moss.

And members of Birchwood Town Council and other councillors have also protested at the scheme - saying it is too close to residents and would disturb nearby wildlife.

But the developers, Prospect Target Club, believe it will create 10 jobs and see £200,000 pumped into the economy.

The application has been recommended for refusal with planners saying the noise will be too loud for the nearby homes and will deter protected bird species on Risley Moss.
