Louis: Squad want to put things right

LOUIS Anderson believes the galling nature of Friday's defeat at Wigan has made the squad all the more determined to obtain the right result against Castleford on Monday.

Having led 14-8 at half time at the JJB, everyone involved with Wolves was taken by surprise by second-half events in the 38-14 loss.

Anderson, whose try won the match for Wolves in the dying stages of their Easter Monday fixture at Castleford, says the squad have been doing fitness work this week after such a disappointing second-half display.

He said: "I think we came out in the second half and we were flat.

"We played the first 40 minutes strong and obviously couldn't handle the next 40.

"Losing sucks but that was a hard one because we were in the game right up until half time. We just got too far ahead of ourselves.

"But you put it behind you and have a positive attitude for the next week.

"The win was there and obviously coming out and losing, if it's done anything it's made the players even more hungry to win. That's the attitude in training this week."

And Anderson is keen that Wolves produce better results for the sake of the club and their under-pressure coach.

"I think there's pressure on all of us," he said. "The fans are great supporters to us as players and to the coaching staff.

"They have an expectation obviously to play well and I feel like as a player we haven't been giving them that.

"I think some of us have been disappointed with our own game and our performance.

"You can't blame them for being disappointed.

"We want to do well for Paul Cullen and do well for ourselves. And if we do well for ourselves, it's good for the fans."

What about putting it right for the rest of the season??
Isn't that the Warrington way, lose one, win one we need to be more consistent and the excuses by Mr Cullen are running rather thin!!

Heard it all before, and before and before. Reading the comments of Lord Hoyle, PC and Mike Parsons in the Guardian today, it seems clear that PC is determined to hang on, and the board have no intention of sacking him. Mike Parsons doesn't believe in changing coaches half way through a season, but no doubt would if we were near the bottom, and relegation still existed.
Paul Cullen did a marvellous job saving the club from relegation, but we are all found out when we try to move up a step. The theory being that we are all promoted to the height of our inefficiency.
The situation appears similar to a manager who can get his team promoted from the football championship to the Premier League, but finds staying in the PL beyond him.
I honestly think that Paul has taken the team as far as he is able.

Just one other point - if league points were awarded for the use of cliches, we would have won the league by now. "Circling the wagons" is one too many.

what a joke Mr lord hoyle and Mr Parsons coming out and saying things like that they dont pay to watch the wire like we have to pay so i think we have a right to say how we want our club run. Did Lord Hoyle to go to Cardiff and will he pay to go to france no the club will pay for him i think we need a changes throughout the club from the top to the bottom get rid of all the has beens we need new idears so come on people lets get it sorted before it goes bad

I just hope that if we do get a resounding win on Monday - as we should even with our injuries etc then the embarrassment of last weeks will not be forgotten. I disagree that the club should be changed 'from top to bottom', however I think it's time for Cullen to go. I for one, am tired of being let down by a team that should by now be enjoying life in the top 4 at least. things need to change quickly.

As for the Warrington Guardian get one of your reporters to print a story that is based on the raw feelings of the fans and print it instead of being ineffective in promoting positive change for the town and its rugby.

Have the board forgotten what we fans did when Daryl Van De Velde ran out of ideas? we started to shout for him to quit what happened then? Yes he went the same will happen to PC very soon I for one like him but he is unproven at this level and has been shown to be quite amateurish in his selection of the team.Let the public decide who we want to save our season, a certain Mr Hanley might be a start.

Well the problem is that this sort of forum attracts fans and people who do know their rugby and who love the Wire … but it is also true that it attracts agitators from other clubs, some who haven’t a clue about rugby, some who love a lynching party, nutters and others that just go on and on and on! As a result many people with a real insight into how to manage a rugby team are just turned off and so don’t get involved.
