DAWN Wright is all set for the Great Manchester Run tomorrow - having raised £2,000 for the charity that helped her deal with the loss of her son.

Christopher Lamberth was stabbed to death the day before his 21st birthday last November and his mum and nine of her friends are running in the Bupa event in his memory.

They want to give something back to Support after Murder and Manslaughter Merseyside (SAMM) - a self-funding group, which offers emotional and practical support to people who have been affected by homicide and helps them rebuild their lives.

Dawn, aged 42, from Manchester Road, has raised £1,500 personally, including £862 online.

She said: "We could have more than £2,000 eventually, which would be absolutely fabulous. I am so chuffed.

"Everybody is 100 per cent behind all of us and I couldn't have done this without their support.

"I get a tear in my eye when I think of it - there is a lot of good in the world and it does cancel out the bad."

People who make donations on justgiving.com also benefit because the website automatically reclaims Gift Aid on all donations made by UK taxpayers.
