A CONMAN who targeted Penketh residents has been handed an ASBO preventing him cold calling' for two years.
Gwyn Hamilton was ordered to pay £11,755 costs and £3,750 compensation to his victims at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday following a two-year investigation into his roofing and maintenance business.
The court heard how the Winsford man bullied victims into having work done - whether or not it was needed.
Judge Elgan Edwards said the 46-year-old had treated his customers with "complete contempt" and that his actions would "not be tolerated".
Trading as North West Roofing, Fascia Finish, Hamilton & Sons and G&J Roofing, he had failed to give customers across Cheshire and North Wales a notice detailing their right to a seven-day cancellation period.
But he was arrested in Penketh after breaching a bail condition which prevented him from cold calling.
Hamilton, admitted eight offences under trade description and consumer protection laws.
He received 150 hours unpaid work and was made to forfeit two vehicles seized by Trading Standards.
It advises never to enter into an agreement with someone who cold-calls'.
Trading Standards officers can be contacted on 08454 040506.
