A GANG of 20 fundraisers will be giving up the pints and pulling on their trainers to help boost St Rocco's Hospice.
Staff and regulars at the Dog and Partridge pub, on Manchester Road, have formed a team for the hospice's Starlight Walk.
“There will be a pot in the pub so anyone can make a donation. I think the regulars are quite impressed that we are going for it”
Marcia Hircombe, from Beresford Street
This year St Rocco's are trying to get women to sign up as a team, whether they are friends or work mates, for the 13-mile midnight walk through the town. And so far the pub team is the largest to enter.
Marcia Hircombe, from Beresford Street, is a regular at the pub and part of the team.
She said: "Quite a few of us have done the walk before, it is a great thing to do for charity. I have done stuff for St Rocco's because my mother-in-law works there, it is such a fantastic cause.
"They make people's lives so much more comfortable. Considering it is a hospice it is a nice place and the staff are so friendly."
The team is currently collecting donations and has even been been collaring drinkers at the pub.
"There will be a pot in the pub so anyone can make a donation. I think the regulars are quite impressed that we are going for it," she added.
And now the fundraisers are hoping to collect more money for the event, with all proceeds going towards the hospice's day care unit appeal that will help to treat more patients.
The hospice is the Warrington Guardian's charity of the year and even if you don't fancy exerting yourself in the Starlight Walk there are still ways for you to help.

It will cost you £1 and 76p from every call will go to St Rocco's Hospice.
