WOMEN were united for a fun-filled fashion show in aid of charities in the area.

More than 100 women filled Antrobus Village Hall last Monday to see familiar faces strutting the catwalk, dressed in clothes from women's fashion shop, Suzanne's in Frodsham.

The 160 guests of Whitley Women's Institute paid £5 for the sell-out event and indulged in wine and cheese as they watched 15 models demonstrate the season's top fashion choices, complete with the the shop owner's running commentary.

The strict women's-only night was Whitley WI's first annual fashion show fundraising event. Members of the audience have since requested that the successful evening is marked in the diary for future years.

Dorothy Thompson, Whitley WI secretary, said: "People came from all over Warrington.

"It was a hugely successful event.

"People want it as an annual event now."

"I knew of Suzanne's in Frodsham so I approached her and she came to look at the hall and agreed.

"We had to give her the heights and sizes of the models who were aged from 17 to 60 and she put all of the clothes on a rail ready."

"If they (the people who attended) go into the shop afterwards, they can get 10 per cent off some of the things."

The total raised has not yet been confirmed but more than £1,000 has been collected for Cheshire charities.
