AN area of Penketh that is a favourite among dog walkers has become peppered with poo.

Mike Davies, pictured, a resident of The Park, says his neighbourhood is becoming besmirched by faeces, which malevolent dog owners are throwing around in bags.

“I have a dog but I wouldn’t let it go to the toilet anywhere near where people go and I think people’s attitudes are terrible for allowing their dogs to foul and then don’t bother putting the bags they pick up in the bin. I want to shame these people.”

Mike Davies, a resident of The Park

Mr Davies, aged 63, said: "There are a lot of dog walkers who walk along by our house and it is disgusting for dog dirt.

"People are picking up bags of dog dirt and are flinging them everywhere, they are hanging in the bushes.

"I have contacted the council and they have put signs up but they are minute and although there are bins, people aren't using them.

"If you go up Station Road up to the Fiddler's Ferry pub you can't look anywhere apart from the footpath because of the dog dirt."

Mr Davies, who is himself a dog owner, cannot comprehend people who do not clear up their pet's mess and is concerned that their irresponsible actions will endanger the health of children who play in the street.

He added: "I have a dog but I wouldn't let it go to the toilet anywhere near where people go and I think people's attitudes are terrible for allowing their dogs to foul and then don't bother putting the bags they pick up in the bin. I want to shame these people."

A council spokesman said: "Now that we have been made aware of the problem we have a team looking into it and will take any action necessary.

"We will provide an update next week."

Warrington Borough Council has now looked into the complaint and issued the following statement:

"Our enforcement officer has been out there and is monitoring the situation and will carry out any prosecutions that are necessary."

Irresponsible dog owners really do have a lot to answer for. I think it's about time that a tough, zero tolerance approach was taken by local authority. Perhaps a mandatory £1000 fine, and having their dog put to sleep might make these people think twice before acting so irresponsibly

Lloyd I agree, but we should go one step further. When the dogs are put to sleep we should sell them to a local thai restaurant for a nice meal and make lovely coats out of there skins.

While we're at it, we should cut off the legs of the dog owners so they may never walk a dog again. That'll teach the dirty beggers.

There is some nasty germs in dog poo. Kids touch , play , examine.
I would love to locate the culprits , collect it all up and dump it on their lawn. But would they notice ?

Why go to the bother of bagging it up if you are going to throw it on the road?
