HAPPY New Year! I am almost relieved that many shops don't take cheques anymore because it takes me until March to write the correct year on them!
I had a house full this Christmas, so what started out as I must get the house looking fabulous for this Christmas, maybe with a lick of paint?' ended up with a whole new bathroom, curtains, new decorations, presents for everyone, too much food and plans for a new extension! Why do we do it?
Thankfully late night shopping saved me, especially Golden Square in Warrington where I managed to get my Christmas party dress for Century FM's Black and White Ball from Oasis.
I went for their LBD range - it's got a real vintage feel and is one of those dresses that will last for season after season.
Talking of fashion, I have loved the colours this winter - the purple looks great with grey (who would have thought I would be wearing purple tights again - I thought I'd left those behind in the 80s!) It's been a complete celeb fest at Century FM over the past few months with everyone paying us a visit from Spice Girl Mel C, Leona Lewis and Shayne Ward to Westlife, Take That (you can scream now!) and even Rick Astley (he's so lovely!) The Sugababes popped into Century FM as well to talk about their number one album and more glamour in the studio the week after when Girls Aloud came in - strange how all the men in the office smelt great that day I also hosted two of our intimate and exclusive Century FM gigs with Wet Wet Wet and Alison Moyet.
Both were great gigs, although I've never been to such a loud gig as the Wet Wet Wet one - proving that women over the age of 35 still scream like teenagers!
The lovely Samia Smith (aka Maria from Coronation Street) came along to see the Wets, as did the assistant Welsh football manager and ex-Liverpool striker Dean Saunders.
One of the big highlights of last year for me was getting a taste of brand Beckham.
If you remember in my last column I was about to fly out to Canada to watch Toronto FC take on LA Galaxy in what should have been David Beckham's first official MLS League game.
He may have been injured, but Beckham was there all suited and booted, but without any socks on! He sat on the bench watching the whole game and when the camera was on him the crowd went crazy.
Okay, I didn't get to see him in action but he was in the club we went to later looking stunning and the next day while shopping (I do that a lot, don't I?) David seemed to be everywhere - shops closed for him and crowds gathered and cheered.
Just before Christmas I was invited to a fantastic open evening and fashion show at the Dove Spa in Higher Whitley, hair and make up provided by Hair Resort and Dove Spa therapists, fashion was from the collection of Ibizaar boutique in Stockton Heath, Corks Out of Stockton Heath provided samples to tease the tastebuds and Sugar Ray's made sure the guys weren't left out in the fashion stakes.
It was a great evening with Tracey Cooke, the manager of Dove Spa, enticing us with some amazing treatments to not only feel fantastic up to Christmas but to start the new year's health kick with a glow.
Anyway that's all for now, have a great start to 2008.
