New chapter for Warrington

HIS Royal Highness The Duke of Kent officially opened a state-of-the-art library in Warrington.

Prince Edward chatted with staff and students during his visit to the £2.35million Broomhead Library at the University of Chester's Warrington campus.

He was presented to chief executive of the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) Steven Broomhead - the former Principal of Warrington Collegiate Institute - after whom the library is named.

Mr Broomhead said: "The library is an excellent public learning resource and I am honoured to be a part of it.

"I hope the library will help students and local residents to develop their skills and will enhance the positive contribution the University of Chester already makes to the town and region."

Marking the latest phase of a £12million investment in the campus, the Broomhead Library offers open-access media areas, a virtual classroom for trainee teachers, quiet zones and a meeting room to practice presentations.
