Warrington HF Ramblers report

Llantysilio Ridge Llangollen – Saturday 28th April 2012 Distance: 9 miles. Ascent: 2500 feet.

This was the first walk for a new leader Vini Martino. A good turn out of 14 people on what turned out to be an excellent day considering the bad weather we experienced the previous week. We set out from the Ponderosa Café and climbed to the first peak Moel y Faen, followed by Moel y Gamelin (highest at 1875 feet), Moel y Baer and Moel Morfydd. We turned back and stopped at the Berwyn Quarry where we saw unusual rock strata, one face looked like it may have originally been the sea bed! Finally we crossed the Horseshoe Pass and back to the Café. We stopped at the Crown Inn for a welcome drink on the way home.
