Warrington HF Ramblers report

Warrington HF Ramblers report by Dennis Carter AS we set off from Warrington in the torrential downpour, many of us wondered why we were doing this. Fortunately as we drove past Chester, the weather dried up and we could even glimpse a small patch of blue sky.

Twenty-three club members assembled to enjoy a really picturesque walk with superb changing views, firstly of the mountains, then of the sea. Other than a light shower in the late morning, the day was dry with some sunshine.

Commencing at the Sychnant Pass, we steadily climbed south westerly, then headed northwest to Foel Lus, which afforded us panoramic views across Anglesey and Llandudno. We dropped down to Capelulo and through this village to climb again around Alltwen. Lunch was enjoyed in the sunshine overlooking the small pool, where we even spotted a red kite.

From here we headed along the full ridge of Conwy Mountain, which again presented beautiful views, this time across the Conwy Estuary. The descent took us across farm tracks and fields with a final ascent to retrace our steps to the car park.
