THE April meeting was held on the 14th in the Methodist Church Hall Phipps Lane.

Our president, Mrs Sylvia Thomas, gave a warm welcome to one guest, Patricia, who has recently moved into the area. After the singing of Jerusalem, thanks were given for the raffle prize and the flowers, followed by the reading of the previous months minutes.

The business for the evening was then discussed. Information was given out on various events taking place in Cheshire which members may be interested in, and also on the ordering of advance tickets for the Cheshire Show in June. Arrangements for the Anderton Boat Lift outing on the April 28 was given to the members and names taken for the Annual Christmas meal at Chester.

A walk around Burtonwood has been arranged by Margaret and Jenny. This will take place on May 12, starting at the recreation park at 10am.

Our speaker for the evening was then introduced - Mrs Dorothy Forshaw and her Keep Fit ladies. April has always been Members Night when the entertainment is usually arranged by the members themselves instead of the committee. Dorothy is a WI member and some of the ladies in the keep-fit/line dancing team are members as well. Over the years Dorothy as a member of the Methodist Church, has raised over £12,000 for the church funds.

During the 32 years she has organised the Keep Fit sessions, people have come and gone and the methods of keeping fit have changed, until we now have a fun-kind of simple line dancing.

The once a week sessions are open to everyone in the community. The ladies showed off their dancing skills and members were encouraged to join in the fun, which many of them did.

Sylvia gave a vote of thanks, following which everyone enjoyed a much deserved buffet and a welcome cup of tea.

The meeting was brought to a close by reminding everyone of our speaker for the meeting on May 12, Jean Finney who will be talking about Joyce Grenfell..This will commence at 7.30 in the Methodist Church Hall, and visitors are always welcome.
