OUR president, Vivien Dawber, welcomed Maureen McMahon, a new visitor to our April meeting. After singing Jerusalem the minutes were read by the secretary Sandra Pugh.

We were then entertained by Sue Gale and Julie Hinchcliff otherwise known as “Wordybirdies”. A two-woman show full of poems, sketches and monologues, all devised and composed by themselves. Very funny rhymes, rants, playlets and reflections. At the end they judged the competition, which was to write an original four-line verse and was won by Gwyneth Richardson.

The gardening club joined with the walking group on April 8 to go on a Daffodil Walk where we were given lots of advice and information on how to look after daffodils. The sun came out and we were all given a daffodil flower or a bulb to take home. The walk, talk and refreshments are given to raise funds for cancer research.

The next walk will be to see the bluebells at Marbury Park on 24th April.

The next meeting will be on Monday May 12 at 7.30pm at Appleton Parish Hall. New members always welcome.
