NATIONAL Stitch Day August 1 saw the branch at Crafts within Bents Garden Centre promoting this national event.

Handmade felt by Sarah Smith was shaped into petals and leaves of a sunflower.

Continuing the celebrations surrounding the Magna Carta’s 800th anniversary ‘Magna Carta An Embroidery’ is on tour and has moved from The British Library in London to The Whitworth Gallery in Manchester from August 8.to November 1.

The north west region panel was worked by Cathy Johnson, branch secretary, and shows the 1274 copy of the Magna Carta owned by the Australian Government and displayed in the Members’ Hall of Parliament House, Canberra.

Current items of members work will be on display at The Cloth Shop, Culcheth during September together with two members who won prizes at the Cheshire Show 2015.

Our next meeting is today, Thursday September 3, where we will be running mini workshops related to Christmas items.

Visitors are very welcome at £6 which includes refreshments.
