ON Saturday August 22 despite, or maybe because of, the poor weather forecast 11 members of Warrington HF Rambling Club turned up at the car park in Settle for the start of the walk.

After a short but steep climb out of the town the path levelled off and there were good views down into the valley and across to Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent.

Another short climb brought us up to the Jubilee cave.

Prehistoric remains have been found in the nearby Victoria cave.

A good path meandered across the fells towards Langscar where we had good views of Malham Tarn.

After lunch we continued into the Stockdale Valley on another good path following the beck and coming to the southern end of Attermire Scar where there is some of the finest limestone scenery in this area.

Despite the awful weather forecast it remained cloudy but dry in the morning, a little bit of drizzle at lunch time and the sun came out in the afternoon.
