FOR their September meeting Stockton Heath Flower Club enjoyed a very entertaining evening with a floral demonstration entitled 'Summertime' by Susan Maddocks from Rishworth, near Halifax.

Susan used some beautiful tropical flowers such as Anthuriums, Orchids, Pincushion Protea, Nerines and Calla Lilies and more traditional flowers such as 5th Avenue and Cappuccino Roses in her designs.

She shared some valuable tips with the audience and suggested ideas for using alternative containers and stands such as a circle of folded magazine pages to make an unusual but very effective stand for one of her designs to be displayed on.

Susan has also designed floral pedestals for NAFAS, the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies, at Westminster Abbey.

Some members of the audience were then lucky enough to win the designs in the floral raffle at the end of the evening.

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 6. 7.15pm for 7.30pm at Appleton Parish Hall, Dudlow Green Road, Appleton.

Visitors are always very welcome.

The club are also hosting a floral demonstration 'Christmas Present' by national demonstrator, Margaret Rumens in aid of St Rocco's Hospice on Wednesday, November 25, at The Park Royal Hotel, Stretton.

Doors open at 6.45pm.

Tickets are priced at £10 and will be on sale at the end of September from 2Lips Florists, Stockton Heath and from Kath on 01925 266758 or Sue on 01925 266823.
