WE enjoyed a contemporary theme to our June meeting.

Members and visitors were entertained by Wendy Gravestone, from Read with her demonstration titled The Apprentice.

Wendy’s beautiful designs illustrated different periods in her life from childhood through to adulthood.

Her designs were outstanding and some members and visitors were lucky enough to win them in the raffle at the end of the evening. The next meeting is on July 7, 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start, at Appleton Parish Hall.

Visitors are very welcome.

The club has a very busy year ahead and are appearing in the arts tent at Stockton Heath Festival on July 4 between 11am and 4pm where floral designs will be for sale.

There will be a chance for members of the community to have a go themselves at creating a beautiful contemporary design for a nominal fee.

All monies raised after costs are covered will be donated to The Walton Lea Project.

The annual coffee morning takes place on July 29 10.30am to 12.30pm at Appleton Parish Hall, Dudlow Green Road, where along with a cake stall, tombola, floral items for sale and a floral raffle, the audience will be entertained to a mini floral demonstration by Eleanor Griffiths who was recently awarded a gold medal at Chelsea.

Tickets, which include refreshments, are £5 and are available from Kath on 266758, or Sue on 266823, or pay on the day at the door.
