WARRINGTON Embroiderers' Guild meetings in 2015 have covered two very different topics.

In February, Miriam Gibbons, from the local Craftworkers' Guild brought an amazing array of embroidered pictures, bags, clothes, quilts which she had worked over a number of years.

Her techniques were varied, and no matter what your particular interest was, there was something to enthral every member of our group.

We loved Miriam's talk as she told us the stories behind many items, and shared tips on technique.

Marie Stacey was our March speaker, with a very different topic, but also with a style which held everyone's attention.

Several years ago Marie was diagnosed with wet age-related macular degeneration, and she told the story of her treatment, and the effect on her sight and her life.

She told of her return to embroidery after many years, and her inspiration from a tutor who helped her find the means to embroider which used what sight she had, rather than being defeated by her difficulties.

We meet on the first Thursday of the month (except January and August) at 7.30pm at Padgate Methodist Church Hall, Cnr Padgate Lane and Tidal Lane, Warrington WA1 3DU.

Next Meeting is 2nd April, when Aleks Denton will talk and demonstrate Batik.

Visitors welcome, £6 inc refreshments.
