Warrington Speakers Club by Fred Jones THE Warrington Speakers Club February Meeting was held at the Village Hotel, Warrington.

President John Hill welcomed deputy mayor, councillor Geoff Settle who was invited to join us.

John Sanson chaired the meeting and invited the Deputy Mayor to share his experiences as a marshal at the Isle of Man TT Races.

Member and retired Warrington Guardian photo journalist Eddie Fuller talked about his years associated with them and showed us pictures of past mayors of Warrington.

Founder member Maurice Monks shared his memories of ‘the German Spy in Warrington’ and Doug Pass remembered the major industrial years of Runcorn and Warrington.

Eric Jennings presented a three-minute lesson in the use of words in everyday conversation.

Members were then invited to join in a topic session by the chairman and the meeting was brought to an end by the president with general evaluation of the evening’s programme.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, March 12, at 7.30pm.
