FOLLOWING the Wii's monumental success, it seems only right that Nintendo's burly mascot has made a major come back in time for Christmas.
And, while Super Mario Galaxy may be the number one present under the tree for gamers this year, Super Paper Mario should definitely not be overlooked.
The Wii title flips conventional gaming on its head - or on its side to be precise - as a wafer thin Mario navigates a 2D or 3D world depending on your choosing.
By changing the perspective, puzzles can be solved, hidden objects can be found and enemies can be vanquished.
This is quintessential Nintendo charm at its best - a new dynamic that is easy to pick up and play. It also melds together the elements of a platform and role-playing game with tangible ease.
Mix this with its nostalgic level design and humour familiar to the Mario series and you have another classic well in the making.
