Blur announce live BBC radio show
Blur are to play a live show for BBC radio ahead of their Hyde Park comeback and warm-up gigs.
The group will play intimate performances at the corporation's Maida Vale studios later this month for Radio 2 and Radio 6 Music.
The reunited band are building up to a major outdoor show in London's Hyde Park to coincide with the closing ceremony of the Olympics.
Earlier this month the group debuted two new songs online as they streamed a live performance from a west London rooftop.
Blur will play songs from their back catalogue, which stretches back 21 years, when they play the BBC shows on July 31 for the two stations, which will give away tickets to listeners.
6 Music presenter Steve Lamacq will also interview the group, led by Damon Albarn, from 4pm and they will appear on Radio 2 from 8pm for an hour-long concert. Both will be available live on the station websites.
Jeff Smith, head of music at Radio 2 and 6 Music, said: "This year marks a huge milestone for Blur as a band. The contribution they have made to the history of British music cannot be underestimated."
Ticket details will be at bbc.co.uk/6music, and Jo Whiley will announce how Radio 2 listeners can attend during her July 16 show.
